THE FLASHBACK | Unheard Voices D00

A Flashback to unheard voices | the “Typoetic” Cage

A flashback to the origin of the concept and 3D typographic interpretations developed in 2015 by the artist/designer as a response to the poem, The Governor and the Bird by the Syrian poet, Nizar Qabbani. The poem goes around a wanderer in the poet’s city with a bird in his hand, who cannot speak up his voice due to certain political and censorship situations, while the governor stops him to ask for his passport as well as the bird’s passport. Even birds need passports in his city... Words need a passport to be heard, he says...

The designed piece is a bird cage with the words and the poem, created along the lines that form the metal cage.

This was the initiation to the concept of Unheard Voices Installation series.
